Root canal treatment allows retention of infected or necrotic teeth. A tooth can become infected or necrotic from deep decay, deep fillings, trauma or cracks. This procedure is aimed at relieving you from pain if the tooth has become symptomatic. It is done over several appointments depending on the complexity of the tooth and involves removal the main nerve canals inside the tooth to the entire length of the tooth. Rubber points and sealing cement are then used to seal the canals. Finally, restoration is performed on the crown of the tooth.
