Crowns are sometimes needed to cover a tooth due to extensive loss of tooth structure, after root canal treatment or to improve the size, shape and alignment of the tooth. A crown can improve the structural integrity of the tooth by encasing the tooth and preventing flexing under load that can lead to vertical fracture.
Bridges can be used to replace missing teeth when the adjacent teeth are sound and can support a false tooth.
Crowns and bridges are made over two appointments at the first appointment we will prepare the tooth for having a crown seated on it. We then take impressions for our dental technician and make you a temporary crown/bridge. At the second appointment we remove the temporary crown/bridge and cement the permanent one.
We use quality local dental technicians and crowns can be made in full porcelain, porcelain bonded to metal or full gold alloy.
